It hasn’t been a full two weeks since Amazon announced its search for a second headquarters home, but the City of Chicago is already considering potential sites for the HQ2 campus. Now, officials from Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office and Governor Bruce Rauner’s office are making a trip to Seattle to look at the e-commerce company’s original headquarters, according to a DNAinfo report

The delegation of 10 state and city officials does not have a scheduled meeting with Amazon. Instead, the group will visit Amazon’s Seattle location to better understand what Chicago sites would fit the company’s needs, according to the report.

World Business Chicago, an organization dedicated to job and economic growth in Chicago, is paying for the trip.

Mayor Emanuel is confident in Chicago’s ability to attract Amazon. On the other hand, Governor Rauner is willing to back St. Louis, as well as Chicago.

"St. Louis has some benefits that they bring in terms of their overall package, and we want to make sure Illinois is positioned to be a great benefactor of that. But the home run for us and the real focus is given metro Chicago,” said Governor Rauner, according to the report.

Amazon is expected to select a city for its new headquarters sometime next year.
