In an area where several luxury condos are on the horizon, Ascend Real Estate Group is adding another project to the mix. The developer is planning a 12-story, 34-unit condo building for River North, according to Crain's.

FitzGerald Associates Architects is designing the building, which will include two 11th-floor penthouse units and amenities like a lounge, fitness center, dog run, and outdoor kitchen.

The development is one of six condo buildings planned or under construction in the area. According to a Appraisal Research Counselors report cited in the Crain's article, developers sold 33 new condos in 2016, up from just nine a year earlier. At the end of 2016 developers were still marketing 155 unsold condos in River North, which represents 19 percent of the total for all of downtown.
