The D.C. suburb of Kensington, Maryland has added its first major mural, according to a Curbed report. The mural, which was created by local artists Matt Corrado and Meghan McNamara, celebrates Kensington’s history.

The mural is 2,100 square feet and can be found on the wall of M&T Bank on Howard Avenue. It features illustrations of a train, gas station, farmers market, and the year 1894, when the town of Kensington was incorporated.

Corrado and Mcnamara began on-site creation of the mural Oct. 9th and finished their work on Oct. 15. But residents can find plenty of the artists’ work elsewhere. Corrado, who is based in D.C., is the co-founder and creative director of Bright Light Media, a full service creative agency in Kensington. Corrado’s other murals and graphics can be found at Nike, &Pizza, and Kung Fu Tea.

McNamara is an artist based in Kensington. Her art studio, which she opened in 2013, focuses on furniture rehab and custom murals. She has worked with local organizations including St. Ann’s Family Center, Room to Rebloom, and Community Partners.

“This artwork represents the very best of the artistic spirit of this community, and highlights what we can do when local artists, the business community, and the town come together to create something wonderful,” Kensington Mayor Tracey Furman said in a statement.
