Delray Beach’s SOFA District is the site of a planned project featuring condos, a hotel, and boutique retail space, per The Sun-Sentinel.

Plans for the project include 35 condominiums, a 122-room hotel, and 5,000 square feet of boutique retail space. Sales for the condos have started, with prices ranging from $500,000 to more than $1 million.

New York developer Alan Mindel said he chose the location for the project after visiting South Florida four years ago. He had planned to buy land in Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood but chose Delray Beach instead. He said he was impressed with the activity he found on Atlantic Avenue, considered Delray’s downtown area, which is home to numerous restaurants, bars, and shops. The SOFA District is located south of Atlantic Avenue on Fifth Avenue between Southeast Second and Southeast Third streets.

The one-, two- and three-bedroom condos will be adjacent to the Aloft Hotel and will share its amenities, including an event room, pool, fitness center, room service, and a concierge. The project is expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of 2018.
