Two years ago, Stonestreet Partners proposed a residential project for Winnetka's downtown core. This past week, that project was finally approved by the village council.

It's been a long road to get here as the project went through 19 public hearings. Once calling for 120 rentals and commercial space, The Winn (formerly known as One Winnetka) will be a five-story, 62-unit project with a mix of condos (16), townhouses (6) and rental units (40). The size of the overall complex at Lincoln Avenue and Elm Street was also reduced on two separate occasions.

The triangle-shaped complex will surround a drive-in parking area and feature a garden on the second-story rooftop and green roofs on the other sections. As part of the deal with Winnetka, the site will include a parking garage for Winn residents and 170 parking spaces controlled by the village.

The project has been in hot demand since it was announced. There are currently over 70 potential residents on the reservation list and Stonestreet expects to start signing pre-lease contracts within the next 30 days while construction is expected to get underway in June.
