One of Los Angeles’ most delayed development projects is finally moving forward after years of inactivity. Per Urbanize, real estate developer Related Companies has officially filed construction permits for Bunker Hill’s Grand Avenue Project in Downtown Los Angeles. According to renderings by famed architect Frank Gehry, two high-rise skyscrapers will be constructed on the existing parking lot.

The project will be built directly east of the Walt Disney Concert Hall at 100 S. Grand Ave. One of the structures will be a 39-story residential tower consisting of 128 condominium units, 214 market-rate apartments, and 86 units of affordable housing. The second structure will be a 20-story Equinox Hotel tower that would hold approximately 305 guest rooms (and most likely a gym somewhere).

The Grand Avenue multi-parcel project was built in various phases over the past decade. The first few legs of the project include Grand Park, the Emerson luxury apartments, as well as The Broad, which have been completed. Plans for the project’s final phase at 120 S. Olive St. have not been filed yet.

Groundbreaking for 100 S. Grand Ave. is set for 2018 with plans to finish by 2022.
