A new Brickell hotel will be split into two Wyndham brands, according to South Florida Business Journals

The forthcoming hotel, which will break ground early next year and open in 2019, will feature 41 stories and 445 rooms split between the upscale, four-star Wyndham Grand brand and the less-expensive TRYP brand, aimed at millennial travelers. TRYP will have slightly more rooms, with 245 of the split compared with 200 Wyndham Grand rooms.

Located at 88 SW 10th St., the hotel will feature a shared lobby and lounge space as well as a shared pool and deck area, a fitness center, rooftop restaurant and bar, plentiful meeting space, and an eight-story parking garage.

Wyndham Hotel Group’s management organization president Mark Kukulski describes Miami as “one of the world’s most coveted travel destinations,” emphasizing the dual brand’s ability to welcome different types of travelers.

A Brazil-based company, Galwan, acquired the site in 2015 through its GW Brickell LLC affiliate. Local firm Arquitectonica designed the space, which was also approved for nearly 9,000 square feet of retail space. The hotel’s venture in Brickell complements Brickell City Centre, a two-phase, mixed-use space that will include a new traffic circle to streamline traffic flow. Phase one is already in progress while phase two will begin in 2018.
