Visit 220 Battery St. in San Francisco’s Financial District and you’ll find a conspicuous two-story office building that stands out for how small it is, given how tall all of its neighbors are. While it’s not expected to reach the heights of others, plans to make the building a bit taller have been submitted to the city for review.

SocketSite reports that designs by Winder Gibson Architects call for a three-story addition that includes two urban townhomes to top the existing structure.

The residential units both come out to approximately 2,500 square feet, not including private roof decks. The addition will add a distinct look and color to the original levels. According to the architect, “the design features peeling and angled windows capturing views down the streets, between the buildings while affording privacy to the new residents.”
