Vinyl record manufacturer Furnace Record Pressing will open a new pressing plant in Fairfax,Virginia early next year, according to a press release. The 50,000-square-foot factory will create more than 40 new jobs.

The company plans to keep their environmental impact low, the release mentioned, by using a combination of both old and new record pressing technology. This includes 10 automatic Toolex Alpha record presses that were imported from Mexico. These older machines were then outfitted with all new electronics, some new hardware, and modern logic controllers.

The press release also noted Furnace has developed its own manual press to help with increased demand for specialty color vinyl and picture disks. The facility will also have two state-of-the-art WarmTone pressing machines from Viryl Technologies of Canada.

“The Furnace team has always been at the forefront of the industry and has a great reputation for high quality, audiophile standards,” Chad Brown, CEO of Viryl Technologies, said in the release. “The inclusion of WarmTone machinery on their plant floor is a testament to their dedication in pushing the boundaries of vinyl manufacturing.”

Eric Astor, founder and CEO of Furnace, said he is eager to support the independent community. “I come from the DIY punk scene, so it’s always been my mission to cater to independent artists and labels, many of which have been pushed to the back of the line with the current resurgence in demand for vinyl,”  he said in the release.

Astor also noted that Furnace is dedicated to reducing their environmental impact and is pledging 5 percent of profits from the new factor to charities focused on that goal.
