The developer Freehold Communities has taken over a Palms Springs development that was formerly proposed by another developer SunCal before the recession. Per Curbed LA, the project is called Miralon and it will feature eco-friendly townhouses and condominiums. The new developers hope to bring new homeowners to the sustainable community, offering solar paneled units starting around the high $300,000s to mid-$700,000s.

The collection of 1,150 for-sale single-family residences come in modern styles while providing desert views. Residents can enjoy amenities within the community such as a clubhouse, various swimming pools, a lounge, and a fitness area. The clubhouse will be designed by Robert Hidey Architects firm.

The new residential development will also convert a golf course (previously built by Suncal, but never opened) into olive groves, community space, and 6.5 miles of pedestrian-friendly walking paths. Temecula Olive Oil Company is tapped to produce pressed olive oil on site, which would go directly to residents and buyers.

The anticipated opening date will be late 2017.
