Forney's Devonshire Community Changes Hands Again
For the second time in three years, Forney’s Devonshire community has sold to new owners according to the Dallas Morning News.
Haynes Development Co. and Avanti Properties Group purchased the major residential development for an undisclosed amount from Wheelock Street Capital, the owner since 2014.
Haynes Development has six North Texas residential communities in its portfolio, which includes Dominion at Panther Creek in Frisco and the Dominion of Pleasant Valley in Wylie.
Avanti Properties Group, based in Winter Park, Florida, is a land investment firm.
Located in Kaufman County just east of Dallas, Forney has become a magnet for attracting new home developments. Aside from its land availability, the growing suburb appeals to the segment of homebuyers that seek quiet, small-town living with big city advantages nearby.
Construction began in 2008 on the first of more than 3,000 homes planned for the sprawling 920-acre Devonshire community. To date, about 35 percent of the homes have been built.
The new owners acquired the remaining lots and land to build over 1,500 more homes.
In a letter to homeowners, Ron Haynes CEO of Haynes Development stated that 241 new homes are presently under construction because of marketplace demand.
Builders at Devonshire include Bloomfield Homes, Pulte Homes, Highland Homes, Beazer Homes, and Gehan Homes. Homes are priced from the $200,000s to $400,000s.
Community amenities range from a resort-style pool and clubhouse complex to an amphitheater, playgrounds, fishing ponds, and hiking and biking trails.
"In the near term, we will be making a number of improvements to the community including construction of a new pool facility, refurbishment of the existing community center, and the creation of a new entrance on State Road 548.
"We want all the residents of Devonshire to rest assured that the combination of our development expertise and capital strength will guarantee that the highest standards in land development and residential lifestyle will be maintained over the months and years to come," Haynes wrote in his letter.
