Want to live in a great town to raise a family? Move to Texas. Want to live in the very best towns to raise a family? Move to the the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, specifically.

ApartmentList recently released their “2017 Best Cities for Families” report and four of the top ten choices can be found in Texas, including the top two. Using a methodology that weighs safety, housing affordability, education quality, and child friendliness, they determined that the best place to live in America to raise a family was Flower Mound, TX. The town scored a 99.5 for safety and 99.9 for affordability, leading to an overall score of 97.3, way ahead of the pack. There's currently quite a few homes for sale in the town all across the price spectrum. There's everything from a two-bedroom house asking $169,000 to an ornate five-bedroom mansion listed for $10,950,000.

Coming in second place was nearby Frisco, TX. The Dallas-Ft. Worth-area city scored 99.4 in education quality and 99.6 in child friendliness. Here too you've got lots of options to choose from across 150 neighborhoods. Prices range from a midcentury rambler asking $145,000 to a six-acre estate looking for $3,979,994.

Cedar Park, TX came in sixth place overall while Pearland, TX rounded out the top ten. Check out the full list as well as more on the methodology here.
