Local real estate firm Palisades is currently developing Gardenhouse, a new mixed-use condominium structure rising in Beverly Hills. The site, which is located at 8600 Wilshire Blvd., will feature a three-to-five story complex sitting atop glass-covered commercial/retail space on the ground floor.

The Beijing-based MAD Architects has been tapped to design the uniquely shaped project. According to Urbanize, this will be the international company’s first U.S. development. Renderings depict a modernist/postmodernist structure featuring a collection of townhomes, a wraparound green wall, and a translucent ground floor.

Plans for the project call for a glassy storefront, a living green wall made of drought-tolerant succulents, and a “hillside village” consisting of three townhouses, five villas, two studios, and eight condominiums.

Even though the much-anticipated Gardenhouse project is still in its scaffolding stages, it appears that the project’s concrete podium is finishing up construction. Although the complex was expected to open this year, it looks like it won’t be complete until 2018.
