Legendary musical talents Elton John and Bernie Taupin recently teamed up with YouTube to recreate music videos for some of their early hits, including “Rocket Man,” “Bennie and the Jets,” and “Tiny Dancer.” The new videos premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival as a celebration of the pair’s 50th anniversary.

What’s refreshing about the “Tiny Dancer” video is it takes the viewer on a not-so-glamorous tour throughout Los Angeles. It doesn’t get caught up in showing ritzy neighborhoods, instead focusing on a more authentic version of LA.

The video, directed by Max Weiland, features coastal views, Hollywood Boulevard, and several lesser-known locales in LA. You can catch glimpses of Circus Liquor, a North Hollywood relic, Jim’s Burgers in Boyle Heights, and even the Family Arcade in East LA. The most pivotal moment in the video takes place at Mariachi Plaza Downtown.

LA is actually the ideal choice for the song considering that it’s about an LA woman. In an interview with American Songwriter, songwriter Taupin said, “I guess I was trying to capture the spirit of that time, encapsulated by the women we met ...They were these free spirits, sexy, all hip-huggers and lacy blouses, very ethereal the way they moved.”
