Historic Lucky 13 Bar Site Approved for Condos, Asking $9.75 Million
A couple months back, plans to demolish historic San Francisco bar Lucky 13 arose with a promise to build a new structure featuring 27 condo units, 1,600 square feet of commercial space, and storage space for 29 bikes.
Per Curbed SF, those plans have been approved and now the owner is looking to sell, permits and all.
The Duboce Triangle building, currently asking $9.75 million, is best known as home of the dog-friendly dive-bar Lucky 13, which has been notable in the city’s history since the early 70s. The bar has ties to notable politician Harvey Milk, as it was a campaign meeting location and the site of his victory party. In 2002, when the initial plans to demolish the bar arose, Lucky 13 avoided demolition by gaining historic resource status.
The listing for 2140-2144 Market St. makes no mention of Lucky 13 and instead features a rendering of the proposed replacement with a description of approved plans. They call for 15 one-bedroom, one-bathroom units, 10 two-bedroom, one-bathroom units, and a pair of two-bedroom two-bathroom units, as well as 1,230 square feet of commercial space.
For now, the bar is still up and running until a buyer is found.
