The historic Owlwood Estate in Holmby Hills sold for $90 million last September to Sturmer Pippin Investments. Less than a year later, they’re looking to double their investment by re-listing the massive property for a whopping $180 million.

Los Angeles luxury real estate company Mercer Vine, who represented the property last year, is also representing the sale this time around. In a press release, they cite “intense market interest” as the reason for the quick re-list and soaring price. While redevelopment plans were drawn up for the 10-acre property, nothing has actually been done since it was purchased and the estate is being offered “as is.”

If someone chooses to purchase the mansion and live in it, they’ll join a list of former owners that’s a Hollywood who’s who, including Tony Curtis, Sonny and Cher, and 20th Century Fox co-founder Joseph Schenck.

Built in 1936 on property that rests between Sunset Boulevard and the Los Angeles Country Club, the 12,000-square-foot, Italian Renaissance-style main house was designed by architect Robert Farquhar. The ornate grounds surrounding it include a circular driveway, fountain, and lush gardens. Also found on the grounds are a tennis court, pool, pool house, and a guard tower.

If the price holds, it will be the most expensive residential sale in Los Angeles County history. Per Curbed, the $100 million sale of the Playboy Mansion last year is the current high-water mark. It’s also not far from another pricy property, a Westwood mansion built by Hollywood producer Aaron Spelling that’s asking $200 million.
