Irvine’s planned Orchard Hills neighborhood has already been approved to bring about 4,000 new homes to the city. Last week, a specific set of single-family houses within the community received the city’s Planning Commission’s seal of approval.

734 homes in the north end of the 14-neighborhood community were signed off on despite concerns about a proposed substation that will be needed to deal with the rising energy demands. According to SoCal Edison, the Santiago Substation in Irvine is reaching capacity but they have also said there’s is currently enough electricity to serve entire Orchard Hills development.

The Planning Commission voted 4-0 to approve the new homes.

Houses in Orchard Hills range in price and size but generally start in the low $1,000,000s and go up from there.
