The Irving Music Factory entertainment complex has been long awaited in Irving. After a few delays and false starts, the facility finally opened with ZZ Top as the first act. According to Guide Live, the facility was renamed the Toyota Music Factory by opening night.

The venue dealt with setbacks prior to opening, including construction delays that prevented the facility from opening by Labor Day as planned. Comedian Dave Chappelle was scheduled to be the first act to perform at the Irving Music Factory, but that performance had to be canceled due to the construction delays.

The first acts to perform in the venue were Texas’ own ZZ Top, with Dallas-based performer Alejandro Escovedo as the opening act.

The venue at State Highway 114 and O’Connor Boulevard near the Irving Convention Center describes itself as “convertible,” meaning the seats can be rearranged to suit any performance. In the case of the first night’s show, the venue was set up in an indoor theater formation. Large doors closed off access to the building behind the indoor theater, leaving the performance area separate from the lawn seating.
