Kilroy Realty, a well-known developer based in Los Angeles, is setting up next steps for the Academy, a new mixed-use development coming to the busy streets of Hollywood.

The project is slated for a 3.5-acre parcel located at 1341 N. Vine St. and will bring new residences, offices, and retailers with it. Shimoda Design Group, an LA-based architecture firm, has been tapped to design the development.

According to Urbanize, the developer has put up a sign informing residents that the site will soon undergo demolition, shoring, and excavation. The massive project will feature several high-rise and mid-rise buildings, which will hold up to 250 residential units, 250,000 square feet of office space, and 37,000 square feet of retail and commercial space. The more notable structures in the renderings include a 23-story high-rise structure, two contemporary-style mid-rise structures, and a translucent town hall area located at the project’s ground-level.

The first wave of construction will focus on the development’s main paseo and surrounding office buildings. Though timeline details for the project’s second phase are unclear, it is set to include the construction of the residential high-rise tower. The major complex is estimated to cost between $425 million to $450 million, according to the developer’srecent financial results.

The upcoming mixed-use structures will be near several community fixtures such as the Cinerama Dome, the Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study, Amoeba Music, and the LA Fire Department.
