Weston, long known for its luxury single-family homes, will now offer high-end condos to potential homebuyers. Elad National Properties recently launched sales of the San Michele Collection, a 592-unit condo conversion project.

The project is expected to be completed in eight phases, with the first phase to include 58 townhomes with garages, offering two, three, and four-bedroom options, some with a den. All phases of the project are expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2020.

The Mediterranean-inspired exteriors will be matched with European-inspired interiors. Kitchens will feature Italian kitchen cabinetry, quartz countertops and backsplash, stainless steel undermount double sink, Bosch flush stainless steel appliances, and polished chrome fixtures. Bathrooms will feature porcelain wall tile, tile finishing on shower walls, floating vanity, polished chrome fixtures, frameless shower, recessed lighting, and a double vanity in the master bathroom. Garages will have a utility sink, tool unit, finished walls, and a full-wall cabinet. Prices for the units will start at $434,000.

Elad National purchased the community, which is currently being operated as a rental community, in 2006. Due to the lack of condominiums and townhomes on the market and the high demand for real estate in Weston in general, the developer decided to pursue the conversion project in phases.

Eyal Shay, Chief Operating Officer of Elad National, told Neighborhoods.com the condo development provides more options to homebuyers in Weston.

“With limited condo/townhome inventory in the area, San Michele Collection provides buyers that are not yet ready for single-family home living a luxury real estate option at an approachable price point. Also, a number of company headquarters are located in Broward County, creating demand for a product that is appealing to the lifestyle needs of younger professionals and families.”

Residents of San Michele Collection will have exclusive access to the community’s country club, featuring a children’s playroom, teen lounge, and outdoor lanai terraces, in addition to amenities including a resort-style pool, fitness center and yoga deck, tennis court, basketball court, barbecue area, dedicated dog park, and children’s playground.

Even though Weston has very limited rental properties, San Michele may not be the only high-end condo project that was originally envisioned as an apartment complex. Developer Lon Tabatchnick, the developer of the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, has submitted plans for a 225-unit condominium project at the Weston Hills Country Club, which had initially been planned as a 274-unit apartment complex. The Lodge at Weston Hills would feature units in a five-story building that would sell from $325,000 to $700,000. Both the rental and for-sale projects have been met with opposition from the community, and Tabatchnick still needs government approvals for the project to move forward.
