All due respect to California’s governor, but the NBA’s Kings are the biggest name in Sacramento. The basketball franchise made waves in recent years with plans to create a mixed-use development called Downtown Commons near the team’s homebase, the Golden 1 Center.

A big piece of that development, the 16-story Sawyer Hotel, is approaching completion later this year. When it does, the tower will also include 45 luxury condos up top, overlooking the arena and downtown Sacramento. The team recently opened up pre-salesfor the units and gave potential buyers a first look.

Units at The Residences at The Sawyer will include floor-to-ceiling windows, quartz countertops with waterfall edges, and stainless steel Viking appliances, just to name a few features. Some units will come with special add-ons such as built-in Bosch espresso makers. Penthouse units will contain two or three bedrooms and large entertaining rooms, and some units will include private terraces overlooking the plaza below.

Residency here comes with plenty of perks. Condo owners will share many of the Sawyer’s hotel services, including valet parking as well as usage of the gym and pool. There will also be a separate lobby and lounge just for residents. As a special bonus, residents who want to attend Kings games will be able to use a private passageway that connects directly to the arena.

As far as pricing goes, the Kings remained mum on overall numbers but did say that smaller units (around 789 square feet) will start at $600,000. Bigger units, which go as high as 3,323 square feet for penthouses, are expected to be priced in the millions. Given that a competing penthouse nearby just listed for $2.4 million and the team is promoting this as a one-of-a-kind opportunity, expect even higher prices.

The team began sales by offering to a select group of buyers that includes “members of the Kings’ family,” high-end ticket buyers, and local companies. They plan to open up condo sales further in the coming weeks.
