In an annual nationwide ranking by Walk Score, Long Beach made the top 10 list of America’s most walkable cities. Since Walk Score measures results based on a city’s proximity to amenities, population density, block lengths, and pedestrian friendliness, it isn’t much of a surprise that the popular SoCal city made the list.

With plenty of hiking areas, clean beaches, family-friendly restaurants and coffee shops, and parks, Long Beach has a lot to offer. As an added bonus, the neighborhood’s locals are also helpful and welcoming.

The top cities on the list also include New York, San Francisco, Boston, Miami, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington DC, Seattle, and Oakland.

Long Beach currently has a Walk Score of 69, which is up 0.9 from the previous year, and a population density of approximately 462,300 people.
