National Life Group’s “Main Streets Across America” has honored this year’s 51 best main streets in each state, plus Washington, D.C. While the chosen street doesn’t actually need to be called main street, the list does include Main Street in Santa Ana as California’s representative.

To be included, main streets need to “embrace a strong sense of community and a commitment to creating an environment where people want to live, work, and play.” So it’s not necessarily just about which areas have the most to do and see, but those that are an integral part of the communities they serve.

When discussing Santa Ana’s Main Street, the list highlights some of what makes it such an important area. Features like the Downtown Santa Ana Artwalk, Bowers Museum, and Savor Santa Ana provide character and culture for residents and visitors, along with several other museums and historic sites along the walk. Of course, there are also plenty of food and drink offerings nearby as well. National Life Group’s write-up draws attention to some of its food halls, including 4th Street Market and the McFadden Public Market.

Santa Ana is the 11th-largest city in California and sits conveniently between Orange and Irvine, directly next to both the US Interstate 405 and Interstate 5 freeways. It’s Orange County’s second-largest city behind Anaheim, which is just a short drive north.
