When Pitbull sings “hotel, motel, Holiday Inn” the Miami native can soon add another destination — “Yotel.”

Aria Development Group and Kuwaiti company AQARAT are planning to build a YotelPad — the first of its kind on the East Coast — at 227 Northeast Second St. in Downtown Miami. YotelPad is the residential version of Yotel, which is a British chain of hotels known for their small, affordable rooms with high-tech features. They can be found in cities and close to airports in properties called “YotelAir.”

The 30-story project in Miami will include 208 residential units and 250 Yotel “cabins.” Units will range from 425-square-foot studios to 700-square-foot two bedrooms. The condos will have floor-to-ceiling glass doors, terraces, and high-end flooring and lighting.

The building will also include a sky lounge with a game area, living room with a fireplace and a chef’s kitchen and private dining area. Owners and hotel guests will have access to bike storage, a coffee bar, restaurant and bar, fitness center, co-working space, a lounge, pool deck and pet spa. Prices will start at about $250,000 and sales will be handled by OneWorld Properties. Arditi plans to break ground by the end of the year and deliver the building in 2020. He said he’s planning on financing construction with a roughly $75 million loan.

According to a press release, YotelPad was launched globally with plans for five projects in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. In the United States, in addition to the Miami project, one will be built in Park City, Utah at Park City Mountain, the largest ski resort in the country. Others projects include two in the Geneva Lake region in Switzerland and one in Dubai.

“Following the successful roll out of YotelAir and Yotel, we saw a natural opportunity to rethink the traditional extended stay segment in the same fashion we disrupted conventional hotel models,” said Yotel CEO Hubert Viriot in a release.

The Yotel concept was conceived in 2006 when the founder was upgraded to first class on a flight and saw how luxury could be delivered in a compact space. In 2007, the first Yotels were opened in London’s Gatwick and Heathrow airports. In 2011, the first Yotel was opened in the United States in New York City near Times Squares. Other Yotels can be found in Boston, San Francisco, Singapore, Amsterdam, and Paris.
