These days they call it Sycamore Valley Ranch but good luck finding many people who don’t know the property in question as Neverland Ranch, a.ka. Michael Jackson’s infamous estate in Los Olivos, CA. Originally listed for a whopping $100 million in 2015, the lack of takers has forced current owner Colony Capital to drop the asking price to $67 million.

For better or worse, you won’t be getting Neverland the way you’ve seen it or heard about it in the past, save for the floral arrangement spelling out Neverland out front. The amusement park rides are long gone and so are most of the animals and full-time fire department (Really? Really.). What is left on the the 2,700-acre property is a train depot with tracks (train not included), 50-seat movie theater, zen garden, multiple sport courts, fire station, pool, and two guesthouses. And of course there’s also a 12,000-square-foot six-bedroom main house with a secret safe room in the master closet.

Jackson bought the estate for $19.5 million in 1987 but defaulted on a loan in 2008, which was when Colony Capital stepped in to buy the note. The two had joint ownership while Jackson tried to renovate and sell the property to the state of California, which didn’t happen.

Various plans for the property after Jackson’s death have fallen through, including turning it into a state park or being purchased by his children. Now it looks like it will eventually find new private owners, it’s just a question of what price that’ll be at.
