When you hear the height of a building under construction in your neighborhood, it might be hard to visualize exactly how that will affect your neighborhood. But now, DNAInfo Chicago has designed a nifty 3D map that can help you better visualize how your 'hood's skyline stands to be altered by new construction.

Select your neighborhood from the drop-down menu to see the map. Turquoise boxes represent approved projects. Buildings not yet approved by the city are in blue, and the height of the boxes represents the height submitted by developers. Yellow boxes allow to you "look inside." You can also add a building to the map.

In neighborhoods where big construction problems are less common, the colored boxes on the map are especially striking. In Woodlawn, near the future site of President Obama's presidential library at Jackson Park, the four-story tall big, blue rectangle stands out.
