North Barrington’s former Wynstone Golf Club was recently purchased by a group of nine families who announced their vision to create a family-focused and inclusive club. The group, made up of former members of the Wynstone Golf Club, purchased the property on June 30 and have since admitted more than 75 new members.

The full-service club is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature course in Illinois and it also features a swimming pool, tennis complex, and clubhouse. Originally established in 1989, the club was named amongst the “Best Courses in Illinois,” according to Golf Digest. The course was renovated in 2015.

“We want the club to be a fun place where our friends, neighbors and community residents can enjoy quality time recreating and celebrating together,” club chairman Dan Murphy said in a press release. “As a new ownership group, we are 100 percent committed to ensuring our members have an outstanding experience.”

The Wynstone Club was previously in debt, but the acquisition eliminates the debt and puts its owners on solid ground financially. According to the news release, the non-equity membership structure gets rid of operating assessment fees and dues are restructured. The aim is to make the club more accessible for families to join.

The new ownership is working with Arnold Palmer Golf Management, a club management company that works with owners, members, and communities to ensure success.
