Plans for a new mixed-use project in Hollywood have been shifting since they were originally filed back in 2014. However, Curbed LA spotted the latest round of changes do not include the affordable housing units originally allotted.

The project, which would sit next to the Capitol Records building, includes razing the Yucca-Argyle Apartments on 6210-6224 Argyle St., which currently house low-income residents. When the original plans were filed in 2014, 39 of the proposed new 191 units were set aside as affordable housing. That number is just one less than the total units in the Yucca-Argyle Complex right now.

A Curbed source, resident Sasha Ali, told the publication that a property management office has opened on the site, with offers to buy tenants out of their units. Ali is part of the newly formed Yucca-Argyle Tenants Association, which has been fighting for protections as the development continues its (now-streamlined) review process with the state legislature. If the current proposal were to go through, the current low-income occupants would effectively lose their homes.

When the project eventually gets under way, it would be comprised of a mixed-use residential, hotel, and commercial/restaurant project. The site would include two buildings — one for mixed use and the other for residential only. The project would create nearly 200,000 square feet of residential use, including common areas, with 210 multi-family units. Parking would also be provided for both buildings.

Construction could start as early as 2018, depending on the review process.
