It can be difficult to leave the house for drinks with friends or dinner with the significant other when Fido is begging to come along. Luckily, there are plenty of restaurants and bars that not only allow dogs, but welcome them with open arms. When you’re looking for a place to grab a meal or drink next Friday night in San Francisco, give these places a go and bring your dog for the night, too. Just keep an eye on your plate.

If you’re in the mood for a pet-friendly restaurant with a higher-end feel, Churchill, with its World War II-inspired theme, is the perfect option. You can lounge on the comfortable couches by the window while your dog lies happily at your feet. Located in The Castro neighborhood, Churchill has a pretty wide selection of cocktails too, so you can enjoy drinks and conversation with friends without feeling guilty about the pup waiting for you at home.

On a sunny day, why not opt for a bar in the Mission District that lets you sit outside and soak up some vitamin D? Your dog will love lounging in El Rio’s backyard while you play some ping pong, shuffleboard, or dice games. If it’s rainy and foggy out, don’t worry -- dogs are allowed indoors, too. Be sure to try one of El Rio’s signature margaritas during your visit.

Starting at 11 p.m., Holy Water offers unique additions to the menu that rotate every night. If your dog is a bit of a night owl, he’ll enjoy sitting by your side while you sample some of Holy Water’s rare offerings that only appear at the 11th hour.

Bring your best friend along to MoMo’s in SoMa to jealously watch you enjoy a juicy burger. The patio is the perfect spot for both of you to soak up some sun and grab lunch or a midday drink. Since it’s right next to AT&T Park, do keep in mind that MoMo’s gets exceptionally packed when the Giants are playing at home. So don’t bring the pup here on home game days if they don’t do well with crowds.
