Thrillist recently scoured U.S. cities to figure out the neighborhoods that “are about to get crazy popular.” In other words, the hot spots in major cities that people will be flocking to in the coming months. Among the 12 neighborhoods they identified was the Warehouse District in Phoenix.

The district, which lies south of Jefferson Street in between 7th Street and 7th Avenue, incorporates both Central City and Downtown and was undoubtedly chosen for its influx of tech startups, which have quadrupled since 2012. The dilapidated and abandoned warehouses here have been renovated and turned into tech office for companies such as WebPT and Galvanize, combining the aesthetic charm of one era with the modern excitement of another.

Along with being named “The Best Place to Office” by the Phoenix New Times, the neighborhood is bustling with galleries and dining options. With so many employees boosting economic growth, housing growth is another reason the district has become so popular. The Downtown Phoenix Lofts offer brick walls and exposed duct for an industrial look while the Summit at Copper Square offers modern amenities, upgrades, and underground parking.

Though Thrillist is quick to point out the Warehouse District has a long way to go before it can hang with like-minded neighborhoods such as South San Francisco or South Lake Union in Seattle, the palpable energy and cool vibe of the area have transformed it into Phoenix’s next big neighborhood.
