Proposed Lifan Tower Near Pico-Union Gets New Renderings
The American subsidiary of the Lifan Group, a Chinese automobile manufacturer, recently released new renderings for a proposed 29-story skyscraper in City West, which is located towards the eastern edge of Pico-Union. The updated designs, slated for the one-acre parcel located at 1247 W 7th St., were revealed after the company submitted its presentation to the DTLA Neighborhood Council’s Planning Committee.
According to Urbanize, the new renderings, designed by Irvine-based architecture firm MVE + Partners, replaced former renderings released last year from the Pasadena-based agency American General Design.
These updated images now depict a 29-story, 350-foot high-rise structure, which will consist of a mixture of 306 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, with 34 of those units dedicated to low-income residents. Plans also call for the construction of 5,700 square feet of retail space on the building’s street level, and a 379-vehicle parking lot. The contemporary complex will also feature rooftop decks amenities, indoor recreation, and community spaces.
The property was purchased by the Lifan Group in early 2016 for approximately $19 million, per The Real Deal. Construction will move forward after the city approves the project’s density bonus incentives.
