Dog owners living near Eastview Park in Rancho Palos Verdes will no longer need to sneak around. Starting in the fall, their furry companions can openly roam the park area without being attached to a leash. According to the Daily Breeze, Eastview will soon include fencing inside the dog park area of the 9.9-acre site. Locals are already referring to it as a “park within a park.”

The plan to make Eastview an official off-leash dog park came about after a number of community meetings held by Rancho Palos Verdes. After hearing feedback from the community and residents living in condominium structures within the surrounding area, it was decided to convert the park into an official dog park. Now local owners dogs of all sizes can give their beloved creatures a better workout.

Eastview Park sits on a steep slope, which isn’t ideal for a sports facility or anything larger. Locals use the playground to hold picnics, go jogging, or explore walking paths.

The dog park is expected to open by Nov. 14, though this date is subject to change.
