Chicago-based Kiferbaum Development plans to break ground this summer on a 13-story, 11-unit luxury residential building at 56 W. Huron St. in River North.

Studio Dwell Architects released the first renderings of the 154-foot glass and steel development in late June, according to Curbed Chicago.

While the developers have yet to receive a building permit for the project, they plan to demolish a vacant former church at the address — at one point home of Van Cleef Hair Studio, a favorite of First Lady Michelle Obama — to make way for 10 full-floor condominiums and a duplex penthouse.

Developers got approval on zoning changes a few months after a notice was sent to residents in February 2016. According to the notice, the development will feature a ground-floor lobby and garage parking for 11 vehicles.

Prices of the units would run from $1.38 million for the second-floor space to $3.99 million. The tower is expected to be open next summer.

"It's a more boutique-style building than what's being built in River North right now," Kiferbaum told DNA Info. "It's in the heart of River North, but at the same time it's a really quiet street."

The same team is behind a new retail and apartment building near Armitage Avenue and Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square. Kiferbaum purchased a 4,000-square-foot vacant lot at 1966 N. Milwaukee Ave. for $550,000. Plans include a five-story mixed-use building.
