Lots of development is on the horizon for the South Side neighborhood of Englewood, which has seen a recent boost in retail options. DNAInfo reports that along with the city's Department of Fleet and Facility Management moving to a larger Englewood site—which will bring 200 jobs to the neighborhood—the city is planning to sell 5 acres of land in the area to be developed as a retail corridor.

Currently located on the banks of the North Branch of the Chicago River near Goose Island, the new facility will go up at 245 W. 69th Street. As part of the move, the city is selling off land on Wentworth Avenue to be privately developed for retail. Big-name retailers like Chipotle and Whole Foods recently moved to the neighborhood, and the city wants to build on that momentum.

Besides the influx of jobs, the city eventually wants to bring a training center to the area. The facility move and subsequent retail development is several years away.
