John Burns Real Estate Consulting recently released its annual survey, which ranks the 50 best-selling master-planned communities in the U.S. As reported by The Houston Chronicle, it appears that the Riverstone community has placed among the top 25 communities in the country. In fact, it was the only master-planned community in the Sugar Land and Missouri City area to break into the top 25 of the survey. So, what has drawn all this attention to Riverstone?

Riverstone actually ranked higher in the survey in previous years and only lost that higher ranking due to a slip in home sales. Although the sale of homes was down slightly from 2016, much of this was attributed to the impact of Hurricane Harvey, which heavily affected the area. However, the community has quickly rebounded and looks positioned to continue the steady growth it has typically enjoyed.

Located south and east of Highway 6, the Riverstone community sits at the heart of a rapidly growing Fort Bend County. Riverstone covers nearly 3,700 acres and will eventually contain both 6,000 homes and nearly 18,000 residents. Riverstone plans to hit these goals by 2021 when it expects to reach maximum capacity.

The area’s appeal to families is partly owed to the large number of nearby dining and shopping. First Colony Mall offers some of the most popular national brands, while Sugar Land Town Square offers not only shopping but numerous community events. Residents can also visit the nearby Township Shopping Center or the Fountains on the Lake, both of which provide views of the nearby waterways that cut through the region. There are also a number of attractions that make for popular destinations on the weekend, including the Imperial Farmers Market, the Fort Bend Museum, and the acclaimed George Rank Historical Park.

The community itself has several resort-style pools that help during the heights of the Texas summer heat, and the numerous parks and playgrounds that dot the area are well suited for parents who want their children to spend time outdoors. The community was also planned with the goal of creating miles of walking trails, giving residents options when it comes to getting out and about. One particular favorite pastime of residents throughout the state of Texas is fishing, and Riverstone also boasts an expansive lake and piers where residents can practice their catch-and-release fishing. The lake is also popular among residents who enjoy taking their boats or kayaks onto the water.

In short, Riverstone earned its place on the John Burns Real Estate rankings through a combination of its location and the number of community amenities it provides. It remains within a half hour of Downtown Houston, and it remains even closer to the popular Galleria shopping and dining area. Homebuyers moving to the region that prefer to live outside the city center will find that Riverstone provides both an ideal location and amenities for residents.
