Little Tokyo is an affluent neighborhood in Los Angeles that sits just east of Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA). It’s not only a popular tourist destination, it’s also a premier center for dining and boutique shopping. At the heart of the neighborhood is the famous Japanese Village Plaza which features several souvenir stores as well as specialty Asian shops, attracting thousands of visitors a day.

Home to two influential museums, The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA and the Japanese American National Museum, Little Tokyo is also a neighborhood filled with performance arts, theater, and culture. With so many amenities and attractions packed into such a central and walkable area, Little Tokyo is one of the city’s most desirable areas to live, work, and play.

Little Tokyo’s central location alone has attracted many developers to the area. Although many residences in the neighborhood are either short-term leases or rent-only, there are still a few buildings that offer for-sale condominiums.

Below is a list of Little Tokyo’s condo developments.

Little Tokyo Lofts

Located on San Pedro Street near LA Live is the luxury condominium loft complex, Little Tokyo Lofts. This Art Deco structure was originally constructed in 1922, and many of these pet-friendly condos have been redeveloped and upgraded into elegant live/work lofts ranging from 610 to 2,220 square feet. One of the building’s biggest selling points is its retainment of industrial elements. Residents have easy access to amenities, which feature a rooftop pool, fitness center, and a dog run. Home prices at Little Tokyo Lofts range from the low $400,000s to $1 million.

Teramachi Homes

Down the street from Little Tokyo Lofts is Teramachi Homes, an active adult 55+ condominium complex. These modern condos are airy with floorplans catering to active seniors. The six-story building was first built in 2006, and units range from 650 to 1,470 square feet. Many of the units feature in-home air purification, granite countertops, a common patio area, and stainless-steel appliances. Communal amenities include a two-story community lounge, a social gathering lounge, a fitness facility, indoor/outdoor pool and spa, BBQ areas, and a central courtyard with koi ponds.

Mura

Mura was built in 2007 by the developer Pulte Homes, and it has since become one of Little Tokyo’s most stylish contemporary condominium buildings. A year after its construction, the residential complex was awarded for its quality construction by JD Power, a Costa Mesa-based marketing company. The building has one- to three-bedroom townhomes with floorplans ranging from 690 to 1,710 square feet. Residents in Mura enjoy amenities such as 24/7 security, fitness center, outdoor lounge, fire pits, outdoor kitchen and BBQs, and a pool and spa. Home prices at Mura range from the high $500,000s to over $1 million.

Savoy

For homeowners who want to live in a resort-like community, head over to Savoy, a condominium community on Alameda Street. From studios to three-bedroom units ranging from 519 to 1,213 square feet, this four-story building spans nearly the entire block, and it’s walking distance to all that Little Tokyo has to offer. Building amenities include a pool, spa, fitness center, business center, sports lounge, screening room, and rooftop lounge with views of DTLA. Home prices at Savoy range from the high $500,000s to high $800,000s.

Tokyo Villa

Located at the heart of Little Tokyo on Central Avenue is Tokyo Villa, which was originally built in 1985. Like many other condominium properties in Little Tokyo, this five-story development has limited for-sale units due to high demand. Tokyo Villa has studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom condos ranging in size from 579 to 1,415 square feet. It offers residents coveted features such as a dry sauna, jacuzzi, and a koi pond.

Lotus 77 (In Development)

It looks like Lotus 77, a new 77-unit loft development, will be joining the Little Tokyo neighborhood by mid-2020, according to Curbed. The new development is being spearheaded by ETCO Homes, and it’ll consist of studio, one-, and two-bedroom units ranging between 700 to 1,112 square feet. Lotus 77 will be located across the street from the Weller Court shopping center, and based on renderings, Lotus 77 will feature amenities such as a rooftop deck and an outdoor swimming pool.
