See New Plans for 36-Story Tower in San Francisco's Transit District
We recently saw new designs for the 64-story tower planned at 546 Howard Street's Parcel F in San Francisco. Now let's cross the street in order to take a look at what might one day stand across the street from it.
Per Socket Site, revised designs for a 36-story tower have been submitted for 555 Howard Street by SKS Partners and Pacific Eagle Holdings. It's possible that the plans could be approved by the city as soon as March.
A change from initial plans, the revised proposal calls for the demolition of three buildings along the block in order to make way for the 405-foot tower. Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop in collaboration with Mark Cavagnero Associates call for 69 condo units, 255 hotel rooms, a ground-floor restaurant, and underground garage for 70 vehicles.
Atop the building would be a publicly accessible open space that connects to a bar on the 36th floor. A rooftop garden that meets the city’s Better Roofs Ordinance would also be included as the project seeks to secure LEED Platinum status. Doing so will help fast-track the Transit District/Yerba Buena neighborhood building as a “green” project under development.
