After being closed for almost two years, the historic House of Blues in West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip is finally being demolished, per Curbed LA

The trendy music and nightlife venue was part of the West Coast expansion of the original House of Blues, which opened in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1994. Other regional House of Blues venues in Anaheim and San Diego still remain popular and intact.

The demolition was necessary to create space for the upcoming mixed-use development called Sunset Time, which has been in the works for several years. Developers for this project expect to finish the hotel and condominium property by December 2019.

This shiny new addition to the Sunset Strip will include a 149-room hotel, 40 condos, and a 25,000 square-foot space dedicated to retail, food, and “beverage shops.” The property will be located at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and North Olive Drive.

Demolition is still ongoing and won’t be completed for several weeks.
