Technology Will Play Key Role in San Jose High-Rise Residential Building
Ground has broken on Miro, a high-rise residential building in Downtown San Jose. Once complete, the 28-story structure at 167 East Santa Clara St. will be one of the tallest buildings in San Jose, with over 600 residential units. And project leaders expect technology to play a key role in turning this building from an idea into reality.

Suffolk Construction has been launching smart technology for construction teams around the country, using virtual design and lean construction principles to increase efficiency and collaboration while minimizing waste. For example, the amenity deck portion of the development will be complicated to build, as it features complex interfaces and flashings. Suffolk plans to bring together the trade partners, design team, and waterproofing consultant together in a virtual setting prior to beginning construction of the deck.
The plan is for Miro to include 20,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, as well as 50,000 square feet of amenities, including a rooftop pool, fitness facilities, and fire pits.
Once Miro is complete, it will be one of many new residential developments in San Jose. According to Bisnow, KT Urban is constructing two towers with 708 condos at a former Downtown San Jose Greyhound bus station. Insight Realty is constructing a mixed-use development featuring a hotel and 300 residential units near the Tech Museum of Innovation.
