If you’re a Las Vegas local who likes scary activities, the city is full of them. While the typical Vegas activities—like drinking, gambling, and making bad choices—are great, sometimes it’s fun to try something out of the ordinary, especially when the weather cools down.

Whether you’re looking for a kid-friendly Halloween activity, a place to take teenagers year-around, or an adults-only spot, here are four Vegas neighborhoods to consider for scary activities.

Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum

Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum is fairly new, but it’s wasted no time becoming a favorite scary event in the Downtown neighborhood. The brainchild of paranormal investigator and actor Zak Bagans, the museum is filled with some seriously disturbing artifacts, including the Dybbuk Box, purported to be the “world’s most haunted object.” The museum building itself is also rumored to be haunted. Although it allows visitors 16 and older, visiting The Haunted Museum is so scary that guest must sign a waiver before entering.

VR Terror Tours

VR Terror Tours is a scary attraction done in an unusual location: on a bus. Often seen parked out at First Friday, this virtual reality experience and horror bus ride had two options to choose from: Ticket to Terror (PG-13-rated) and Dead Sexy (18 and over). VR Terror Tours are also available for corporate events and private parties.

Haunted Harvest

Haunted Harvest over at Springs Preserve is a seasonal event that kicks off a few weeks before Halloween. The event includes carnival games, crafts, petting zoos, mazes, and live entertainment appropriate for all ages, plus food vendors and trick-or-treating for children.

"Fear the Walking Dead" Survival

For fans of “The Walking Dead,” this scary attraction will be right up your alley. "Fear the Walking Dead" Survival is described as a 4-D thrill attraction that’s “part thrill ride, part escape room, part maze, and part interactive video game.” Fear The Walking Dead is right on Fremont Street, and it’s allows anyone who meets the 3’4” height requirement.

Spring Valley

Bonnie Screams

Not only is Bonnie Springs a cool spot for scary fun around Halloween because it transforms into Bonnie Screams, it’s also rumored to be haunted—it’s even been featured on the Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures. Located just up Blue Diamond Road, Bonnie Screams has zombie paintball, haunted trails, and haunted houses for the whole family to enjoy.

Freakling Bros Trilogy of Terror

The Freakling Bros Trilogy of Terror is a seasonal event off the 215 and Flamingo Road in Spring Valley. This attraction has three haunted houses to explore: Castle Vampyre, Coven of 13, and Gates of Hell (which carries an “R” rating). Visitors can choose to do one house individually or all three together. According to Haunting, Trilogy of Terror ranges “in extremity from magical and nostalgic to intense and shocking. These haunts will run the gamut of emotion, awakening a childlike sense of wonder in you and then pushing you to an extreme.”

The Strip

"Saw" Escape Room

For anyone who’s ever wanted to experience a “Saw” movie in real life (for some reason), it’s possible at the Saw Escape Room. Located just west of The Stratosphere, this year-around destination only allows guests under 16 years old with an accompanying adult.

Shark Reef

Shark Reek is already a favorite family-friendly activity on The Strip, and it gets even more attention during Halloween when it becomes the “Hallow-Reef.” The aquarium transforms to include spiders, ghost, witches, and even skeleton divers. Children three and under are admitted free.

Zombie 5k Run

The Zombie 5K Run one-mile race is a fun time for anyone looking to be spooked while also getting a workout. Held over at Cornerstone Park in Henderson, this event happens the night of Oct. 20 and encourages guests to dress up like zombies or in Halloween costumes. The Zombie 5K run allows ages five and up.

Undead Maze

Undead Maze took a break in 2017, but they’re coming back this year promising to be bigger and better than ever. Held at the Tivoli Village every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during October (as well as Halloween night), this event spans multiple haunted buildings with scare zones guaranteed to get visitors into the Halloween spirit. Undead Maze is considered pretty scary, so visit at your own risk.
