Whether you want to spend time with the family, go on an unconventional date, or just soak up the sun and enjoy the beautiful weather, a picnic could be an excellent way to spend the afternoon. And no matter which neighborhood you live in, there are some great spots in Las Vegas for a picnic outing.

Although all areas in the Las Vegas Valley can be significant for outdoor fun, some notable neighborhoods include Henderson, Spring Valley, Centennial Hills, and Paradise. Each location offers prime picnic spots in some of the most beautiful parks in the city.

One significant aspect of Henderson is that it’s home to plenty of master-planned communities, which have park spaces perfect for picnics. Lake Las Vegas, Cadence, Inspirada, and Anthem are just a few of many developments with ample picnic areas for their residents.

For those who want to venture outside their communities, Green Valley Park is one location to consider. This four-acre park offers open grass areas with picnic tables as well as covered picnic shelters (in case it rains on your outing). In addition to great picnic amenities, the park also features ball fields, barbecues, a basketball court, playground, and restrooms.

Cornerstone Park and Reunion Trails Park also offer outdoor amenities and pleasant spaces for picnics. Amenities at Cornerstone Park include picnic tables and covered picnic areas as well as a warming kitchen, corporate plaza area, and 31-acre lake. Cornerstone also has lighted basketball and volleyball courts. Reunion Trails Park, which was named 2012 "Best Place For a Peaceful Playtime" by Desert Companion, offers 12 acres of green space with covered picnic shelters, picnic tables, basketball courts, a playground, a splash pad, walking trails, and a dog park.

The most popular park in Spring Valley is Desert Breeze Park because of its central location and size. This local park has plenty of picnic areas available on a first-come, first-served basis, as well as a community center, a skate park, baseball and soccer fields, roller hockey rinks, and a dog park.

Charlie Frias Park, over by the Orleans Hotel and Casino, offers 32 acres of green space with picnic facilities. Besides picnics, this park also has multiuse fields for soccer, football, and lacrosse as well as a dog park, horseshoes, two playgrounds, and a walking trail. The park is also a great spot to enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding canyons and mountains.

Spring Valley Community Park is another option for a picnic outing. This 33-acre park offers numerous picnic areas, playgrounds, basketball courts, and ballfields. It’s also known for being very pet-friendly, and it’s just minutes away from The Lakes neighborhood.

Sunset Park has a little bit of everything including softball fields, little league fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, a disc golf course, a dog park, a fitness course, an RC boat ramp, sand volleyball courts, and tennis courts.

The neighborhood of Centennial Hills has a variety of master-planned communities with outdoor spaces perfect for picnics. For example, Skye Canyon has a park area exclusively for its residents to enjoy, with a splash pad, gazebo, and shaded picnic area.

Floyd Lamb Park is another option for picnics, and it’s one of the more popular local parks in this neighborhood. The space has a lot of BBQ grill areas and picnic facilities perfect for spending the day with family. This popular park is also home to wildlife, so you might see bunnies and peacocks roaming around.

Centennial Hills Park is another local park with plenty of picnic areas. For those who want to experience even more outdoor fun, you can visit the historic inverted riverbed, enjoy the jogging trails with interpretive signage, or attend events at the amphitheater. Since Centennial Hills is so close to North Las Vegas, it’s also easy to take the short drive to Craig Ranch Regional Park or Aliante Nature Discovery Park, if you’re looking for a new outdoor spot to hang out.
