The Hyperloop Could Get You From Miami to Orlando in Just 26 Minutes
Imagine a 26-minute trip from Miami to Orlando—a fraction of the four-hour drive or half the one-hour plane ride it would normally take. That would be a reality if a proposal imagining a South Florida route for the Hyperloop, a super-fast mass transit concept devised by Elon Musk, comes to fruition.
The LA-based startup Hyperloop One, which seeks to commercialize Musk’s invention, launched a “global challenge” to find potential routes across the world. Among the 11 finalists was the Miami-to-Orlando route. Of these 11, two to three will be selected for further study.

The Hyperloop concept for passenger and freight transportation involving a pod-like vehicle propelled through a reduced-pressure tube at extremely fast speeds. The hope is that the Hyperloop could serve as an energy efficient and quiet mode of transportation that is faster and less expensive than air travel.
The Miami route is just in dream stage at this point, but the company recently announced its test track in the Nevada desert, called the DevLoop, is complete; it plans to launch a capsule down the track in the upcoming months.
