It may be off the beaten path for most San Francisco residents but Ingleside is one of the last remaining slivers of the city where buyers can still find homes for less than $1 million.

Ingleside isn’t the most central location in San Francisco as it sits to the south between Balboa Park and San Francisco State University. However, its prices are appealing to those who can’t stomach the out-of-reach prices elsewhere in the city. According to a Business Insider report, 20 percent of homes sold in San Francisco since July 2016 was under $1 million. Of those 593 home sales, 83 were in Ingleside.

In comparison to its neighboring communities, Ingleside offers a more suburban feel, giving residents a taste of small-town life in the big city.

The sub-$1 million prices end at Ingleside’s borders, however. Even in Ingleside Terrace, you won’t find any houses under $1 million. If San Francisco’s median home prices continue to rise, Ingleside may follow the same route.
