Fans of Top Chef know Brooke Williamson very well. The runner-up from the show’s Seattle season returned to the show this year and [SPOILER!] found redemption as the winner of the latest season.

Residents and diners in Los Angeles’ Playa Vista neighborhood also know Williamson very well and might get to know here even better in the coming days.

Along with her husband and business partner Nick Roberts, Williamson currently runs Da Kikokiko, a fast-casual restaurant that puts a spin on Hawaiian and Asian cuisine. She tells Food & Wine that she also has plans to move her cooking store Tripli-Kit from Playa Del Rey to a retail space across from Da Kikokiko. On top of that, because of the planned community’s child-friendly and walkable neighborhoods, she is considering living there in the near future.

Playa Vista is made up of various neighborhoods but you’ll find Da Kikokiko in the Runway development, which also includes a Whole Foods, CVS, and movie theater. You’ll also find a mexican joint, pizzeria, and burger bar within walking distance.

That must be music to the ears of developers and management companies at Playa Vista, where creating and nurturing valuable community is the point of it all. The new-ish Los Angeles neighborhood is already getting a reputation for being the hub of Silicon Beach's tech community, but being able to point to residential and restaurant features as well will only increase its viability as a place people want to live.
