Two active adult community plans are currently making their way through the proposal and approval process in their respective Metro Atlanta communities.

In the Cherokee County town of Canton, Carson Developments has proposed an 82-unit active adult community along Hickory Road. The project was recently tabled until February by the Cherokee County Planning and Zoning Commission as they request more information to understand Carson's requests to rezone 21.67 acres of land for the community.

Meanwhile in Marietta, David Weekley Homes has their own plans for a gated active adult community between Chestnut Hill Road and Powder Springs Street. They too are asking the local government to rezone their 14.5-acre property and the city council is expected to consider it on February 8. Plans call for detached homes in the 2,000 square-foot range with prices in the $300,000s. The hope is to begin construction this spring.
