The urban lifestyle is going to get even sweeter for Downtown Dallas dwellers when two separate Royal Blue Grocery Stores open within the Central Business District in early 2018.

According to Dallas Culturemap, the business model for the trendy Austin-based grocer is to offer in-town shoppers convenience, boutique foods and beverages, regular grocery items, freshly prepared take-out meals, and a cafe rolled into a compact urban market.

Downtown residents can stop in their local Royal Blue Grocery on the way home from work and pick up items ranging from produce to toilet paper as well as breads by Empire Baking and pastries from Bisous Bisous, which are made in Dallas.

One of the stores is opening next spring in the Mercantile Place building at 1704 Main St., and the other urban market will be on the northeast corner of Ross and Harwood in the Trammell Crow Center that’s presently undergoing a $135 million redo.

"Our patio overlooking the [Dallas Museum of Art] is going to be really special," Zac Porter, Royal Blue Grocery proprietor, said in a release. "As we expand into Downtown Dallas, we think this location will be great for the building and our Ross Avenue, Arts District, and Klyde Warren Park neighbors."

In 2015, Dallas’ first Royal Blue Grocery opened in Highland Park Village. The large-scale store encompasses 6,500 square feet in a former Tom Thumb site, and it’s four times larger than the Austin urban markets.
