In an unexpected turn of events, Uber is looking to sell the Uptown Oakland Sears building the company bought in 2015 and planned to move into sometime next year.

With plans to expand, Uber purchased the entire Uptown Oakland Sears building in 2015 for $123.5 dollars. Earlier this year they announced a plan to sublet over half the building, focusing more on the company’s San Francisco office in Mission Bay.

The latest report, per SocketSite, says Uber is now looking to sell the entire building with just under a year left before its expected opening. Sources say Uber is not planning on leasing the space back in Uptown Oakland.

Instead, Uber’s plan is to continue expansion in San Francisco. With their international headquarters expected to be completed at the end of 2017, and the new office space coming up in the Golden State Warriors Arena, there should be plenty of room for them in the Mission Bay neighborhood.
