Realtor.com recently released their list of the hottest U.S. housing markets in March 2017 and you’re probably not surprised to find out the hottest of all is located in the Bay Area. You might be surprised, however, to find out which Bay Area market it is.

Vallejo, the waterfront city in Solano County north of Berkeley, is the country’s top market for the second month in a row. To drive home how powerful housing sales continue to be in the Bay Area, the San Francisco market (which encompasses Oakland and Hayward) came in at No. 2 overall.

San Jose checks in at No. 5, Sacramento at No. 6, and Santa Cruz made the biggest jump of the month, up from No. 24 in February to No. 9 in March.

The median number of days that a Vallejo home was on the market in March was 33 days. That number is expected to dwindle even more now that spring is here, because it is notoriously the best time of year for home sales. The median home price of $360K might look appealing, but that number has been on a steady rise for years ($288K in March 2015) and doesn’t show any sign of letting up.
