Victory Park in Dallas is Getting New Public Art
Public art is present in most of the world’s greatest cities. Until recently, Dallas didn’t make a strong showing in this category. But some of the top city visionaries are making more of an effort to bring more effort to the public arena in the Victory Park area of Downtown Dallas, according to Culture Map.
The Victory Park building recently unveiled five geometric murals by local artist Lesli Marshall. The new murals can be found inside the parking garage on Victory Park Lane.
Marshall is a mixed-media artist who has a company called Articulation Art. She fully supports the addition of public art and its role in transforming the Victory Park area.
"The color and life in these murals reflect the new vibe of the area,” she said in a press release. "It's always exciting to stumble upon art in unexpected areas. In a parking garage, which is usually boring and industrial, people will discover these giant murals and interact with them."
Marshall worked with other local artists Daniel Driensky and Sarah Reyes on creating the five murals. Each piece features an animal, overall theme, and color scheme. Some of the incorporated elements include a brave phoenix, radiant goldfish, strong elephants, a fierce steer, and victorious lions.
"We could just paint numbers on each level like everywhere else does, but the new Victory Park isn’t like everywhere else," Terry Montesi, CEO of Trademark Property Co., told Culture Map.
