Walnut Creek Retirement Community Targets Downsizing Boomers
Units at a popular new East Bay retirement community in Walnut Creek may soon be hard to come by. The 174-unit Viamonte at Walnut Creek is already 50 percent sold and the community hasn’t even broken ground yet.
Developed by Northern California Presbyterian Homes & Services, the building is being marketed to affluent couples age 60 or older looking to downsize from their single-family homes into one- or two-bedroom units, or two bedrooms with a den. One-bedroom units are starting at $600,000, and two-bedroom units with dens are selling for $1.6 million or more, per Builder.

Amenities will include on-site restaurants, bars, outdoor fireplaces, an arts center, fitness center, a pool, spa, and more. The community will also offer living options based on the needs of each resident, including independent living, assisted living, and memory care.
“People of this caliber come from large homes and are not looking for modified living where they’re expected to be taken care of. They want to have enough space for guests or for office space. It is very typical to find a couple that want their own office because of their work or encore career,” Staci Chang, marketing manager for Viamonte, told Builder.
The community will be available for occupancy starting in 2020.
